This year’s SciArt Ambassador cohort will be organized around the research theme: How the Hybrids Bond. We are specifically looking for artists who are interested in the murky liminal spaces that connect beings: how are humans, machines, animals, and plants bonded? Some questions we are considering: How is hybridity shaping the future? Where do historic forms of hybridity collide with human-generated ones? What role could bio-mimicry and bio-design play in shaping interspecies relationship architectures? How do we think about both the distinctions and echoes between planetary, plant, and machinic intelligence?
We are looking for artists whose methods incorporate organic and machinic materials/processes, who question hybridity in concept and form, and challenge barriers between the material and immaterial.
The SciArt Ambassador Fellowship is a year-long professional development and community building program for women, trans and non-binary artists based in Los Angeles. Ambassadors exhibit their work in a SUPERCOLLIDER exhibition, join community dinners facilitated by cohort members, and complete the program with a new community of collaborators, colleagues, and contemporaries in the art-sci-tech world of Los Angeles and beyond.
